Hello!
I’m Maya. Hali’s Hands began as a quiet effort: just me, some kits, and the memory of my grandmother Halima’s hands. Her hands are always doing something; soothing, feeding, holding, helping. To me, they are symbols of compassion in action.
This work is my way of continuing that by offering care, conversation, and dignity to people navigating crisis. It’s not about fixing anyone. It’s about showing up, reaching out, and giving what we can, with open hands.
My background is in health research, and through listening, learning, and working within communities, one truth has always stood out: social issues are health issues. Poverty, addiction, trauma, and domestic violence aren’t just personal struggles, they are public health crises. And through outreach, I’ve also come to see something just as important: so many people are searching not only for survival, but for spiritual connection, purpose, and peace.
Hali’s Hands exists to meet both the physical and spiritual needs of those in crisis, whether facing homelessness, addiction, abuse, or just feeling lost. We offer care kits, resource support, outreach conversations, and community events rooted in compassion and inclusion. Our work is not about charity; it’s about presence, respect, and hope.
In my free time, I find grounding in nature, books, my faith, and the people I love. They are reminders that healing and joy are possible, even in small moments. That’s what I hope Hali’s Hands can offer, too: small moments of care that help rebuild a sense of dignity, connection, and wholeness.
Thank you for being here!
